Kimbolton WI last met in March for our anniversary meal at The Boot Inn, Orleton. It marked our 87th year.
Little did we know how our lives would dramatically alter in the following weeks, and how COVID-19 would impact on our physical and mental wellbeing.
It has been a challenging time for all of us.
We have, as a group, stayed in communication with each other as much as possible, and with the help of WhatsApp in particular, shared the ups and downs of lockdown together.
Many of our talented members have contributed to the making of laundry bags and scrubs for Herefordshire NHS workers.
We have had to take the difficult decision to suspend all meetings in the foreseeable future and await further official guidance.
When we reach the other side of this global pandemic and (thinking positively), have a vaccine, we would love to welcome new faces to our small and friendly group. We are not just ‘Jam and Jerusalem’!
Photos of the scrub bags made for the NHS
Hereford Hospital contacted local WI's asking for help to produce 1000 scrub bags for the NHS and local carers.
In the true spirit of the WI the message went out and they rose to the challenge producing 1846 bags in a very short time!
The photos are of Kimbolton and Bockleton's contribution to the excellent total.
With thanks to Caroline Proctor of Bockleton WI for the photographs.
