Bockleton WI

13 May 2020

Bockleton WI has cancelled it's meetings until September when it will review the situation.

Members are filling their days during the lockdown. While enjoying the beautiful weather we have been tidying our gardens, preparing and planting our vegetable plots with the hope of a bumper harvest later in the year and taking time to enjoy birdsong and clearer skies.

While on our daily exercise we have been litter picking and taking photos of the spring flowers and views we see on the quieter lanes of the Villages and Hamlet's we live in.

Some of our members have been trying out new crafts and enjoying old ones, which we often find difficult to fit into our normally busy lives, knitting, crocheting, trying new recipes and sewing to name a few.

Members have been making lap blankets to be used in churches, hearts to be given as friendship gifts and scrub bags for NHS workers and carers.

We would like to thank family and friends who have been shopping and keeping an eye on our more vulnerable ladies and are grateful for the contact that has been kept up between members.

Hereford Hospital contacted local WI's asking for help to produce 1000 scrub bags for the NHS and local carers.

In the true spirit of the WI the message went out and they rose to the challenge producing 1846 bags in a very short time!

The photos are of Kimbolton and Bockleton's contribution to the excellent total.
